Sweden

My first trip to Sweden with The Ten Tenors was, of course, just as beautiful as all our experiences have been in Scandinavia.

“Stockholm i mitt hjarta...” – Allsång på Skansen

Our first stop was the national TV program ‘Allsång på Skansen’ in Skansen, Stockholm. This program is an annual festival filmed and broadcast over many nights each summer; it attracts 15,000 spectators as well as millions of home viewers. Beginning in 1935; each year the audience turns out to literally sing along with musical guests – hence the title which roughly translates “Singing together at Skansen”. “Stockholm i mitt hjarta” (Stockholm in my heart) is the show’s theme song; and after a few days in this beautiful city it’s very clear why they chose it. The audience was in FINE voice during our version of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody; as well as our little snippet of ACDC’s Thunderstruck which we performed after the show.

Dalhalla

We perform in some amazing outdoor venues, and the most beautiful would have to be in Scandinavia. Our recent tour took us through stunning Norway and finished across the border in Sweden’s natural wonder – Dalhalla. A Four kilometre diameter meteor fell from space creating Lake Siljan and its beautiful surroundings. Dalhalla's stage has been built in Draggängarna, a former limestone quarry.

This is a photo I took just before the audience arrived.

Berlin Photo Shoot

With a few new fellas joining the group, it was time to get some new shots with our favourite German photographer. Here’s a behind the scenes look...

2010 - THE POWER OF TEN

After almost a year of planning – our new show THE POWER OF TEN hits the stage. Follow the journey though Europe...

A rare afternoon off ...

Here's a look at some of the antics we got up to when we made our way to a small golf course near the town of Sandefjord in Norway.

Allsang på Grensen - Norway

Allsang på Grensen is a yearly festival taking place at the historic Fredriksten fortress in Halden, close to the Norway/Sweeden boarder.

The title translates ‘Singing together at the border’ and is attended by 50,000 Scandinavians over several weeks and watched by millions of viewers via weekly telecasts. Famous local and international stars are invited to perform and songbooks, or subtitles for the home viewers, are provided so the audience can sing along.

This year it was our turn and our version of Simon and Garfunkle’s ‘The Boxer’ had the crowd enraptured. Apparently, according to the producers, we received the biggest ovation in the festival’s history – not bad for a group of Aussie lads hey!

Enjoy this a clip of our performance:
